From the customer to the product
In 2002, RAVAK decided to change its - usual at the moment - approach towards the development of new products. „Instead of a direct assignment for the designer, we decided to take an opposite route. At first, we would investigate about the expectations of the customers and then try to fulfil their wishes with a model key-made according to their requirements,“ says Jindřich Vařeka, co-owner of the company and the leader of the development team for many RAVAK products including the LoveStory tub.
„Two years before that we were fascinated by the experiences in the field of product design, especially in the automotive area, of the Austrian designer Achim Storz. At that time he had already worked for world-famous brands as Porsche, Audi, McLaren and others and we decided to introduce to our customers the best world-class design through his work.“.
The development image started with the demand from our customers for a bath tub in which people could enjoy a common bath in immediate physical contact, embracing each other.
„The designer prepared several options from which the proposal based on the shape of a heart was clearly viewed as the best one. What we had in front of us was a genial connection of practical benefits and design as well as a certain philosophical principle of the emerging product.“
